About Avodah

Connecting Purpose to Impact

Connecting Purpose to Impact.

Through years of mission trips and philanthropic work, we’ve met incredible organizations doing meaningful, life-changing work—but here’s what we’ve noticed: many of these passionate leaders have amazing callings, talents and gifts but are missing the operational know-how, strategic communication skills, time or business fundamentals they need to truly excel and build something that lasts.

Our vision is to be the catalyst that unleashes our partners anywhere to chase their God-given purpose and create unstoppable impact of human flourishing that stands the test of time. We’re dreaming of a world where these organizations don’t just survive—they absolutely thrive —while people from all over show up ready to champion their success.

Mission-Driven. Strategically Minded.

Avodah is a Hebrew word that beautifully captures the integration of work, purpose, and service—three elements that create joy and impact when working together. The Avodah Connection exists to bring these together for people and organizations determined to create lasting impact for human flourishing.

We operate as a hands-on partners who dive in with our personal time, years of hard- earned expertise, strategic connections, and real resources to truly empower mission-focused leaders. Here’s our commitment: before any project ever reaches our supporters, we’ve already rolled up our sleeves and invested ourselves in ensuring its success and long-term sustainability.

Stan Van Den Berg

From Chevron geologist to pastor, Stan's 40-year journey is all about shepherding people through change.

After discovering his true calling in ministry, he joined Covenant Presbyterian in Orange, CA, where his journey really began.

Pastor Stan earned his Master of Divinity from Fuller Seminary in 1990, was ordained in the EPC in 1991, and worked his way up from associate to senior pastor by 1995. Never one to stop learning, he added a Doctor of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in 2002. In 2014, he accepted the call to lead Eastminster Presbyterian in Wichita, KS, faithfully serving until his retirement in January 2024. During this time, he has also led over 15 short-term mission trips and has had cross-cultural experience across four continents. He is trained as a transitional pastor, ready to help churches and groups navigate their next chapter.

Jon Green

Insurance agency owner & servant leader, Jon’s heart for missions has taken him across the globe.

Jon Green has been helping Wichita families and businesses navigate life's uncertainties through his American Family Insurance agency for over 20 years. But Jon's heart for service goes way beyond insurance policies. He spent 10 years on the The Classical School of Wichita board of directors, helping guide the startup school through those exciting (and sometimes nail-biting and faith-testing) early growth years.

Driven by his strong faith, Jon has led short-term mission trips to Albania, Macedonia, and Nicaragua, bringing his passion for service to communities around the world. He approaches both his business and his ministry with the same integrity and genuine care for people.

When he's not helping clients or planning mission trips, Jon enjoys life with his wife of over 25 years and their three adult children. He's a serious foodie who loves discovering new restaurants and sharing great meals with family and friends – because the best conversations always happen around a good table.
